Importance of Getting All Campers Involved

Alright so tonight I wanted to take some time and talk about involvement of all campers this summer.

Summer camp is a great and unique setting for children of all ages to be themselves. The camp setting provides a lot of resources for campers to pursue activities that interest them, but also may provide activities that are new to them. 

Some campers are willing to try everything and anything. On the other hand you will have very shy campers who aren't willing to try things right away. This is where a great counselor comes in to play.

In this situation a counselor should identify a child sitting out or not participating. If their is coverage to watch the other campers, a counselor or two should walk over and talk to them. You can start with small talk and work your way to why they are sitting out. 

Getting these shy campers involved may change their outlook on things and they may be more willing to try new things as camp goes on.
